A Ben Torah is someone who lives his life in accordance with the Middos that the Torah he is learning imparts to him. If he is a bulvan who merely learns and does not LEARN FROM his learning, he is no Ben Torah, no matter how many years he sits in the Beis Medrash and thinks himself to be one.
