I had a similar experience, but it was in Spanish. I needed to call a client in Argentina, but could not get past his switchboard, as I don’t speak Spanish, and my parner (who does speak) was not there at the time. So I asked a whse worker to place the call.
The switchboard tells my whse worker the person I want “retired”.
WHHAAT!!? I have this huge deal pending and he retired??!!
After the shock wore off, it seems that the dialect my worker speaks is a bit different than the one spoken in Aregentina, so “retired” means he went home for the evening.
Whew!
