Hikind Wants As Many Cops As Traffic Agents Following Two Shooting Incidents

In the wake of the second incident involving gunfire in Boro Park this week, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is calling upon NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly to increase the overall number of police officers assigned to the 66th precinct and to add NYPD foot patrols.

“Boro Park has been the site of two shootings this week alone,” said Hikind. “Our beloved Shomrim and the 66th precinct were integral in the arrest of the suspects in both cases. But clearly, we also need an increased police presence.”

Hikind noted that there is no shortage of traffic enforcement agents in his district, but he is hard-pressed to find a police officer patrolling the streets on foot. “I want to see at least as many police officers on the streets as there are traffic agents,” Hikind remarked. “Our community has always been a safe one, and I want to keep it that way,” he added.

  1. We alrady have an oversupply of NYPD agents. The trouble is they are parking ticket wtiers, and, if they ever saw a crime, they would be the first to run for cover.
