The Times Herald-Record will begin charging in September for online access to its coverage of the Hudson Valley and Catskills region, President and Publisher Joe Vanderhoof announced.
According to Vanderhoof, the newspaper will introduce subscription packages that combine print and digital news options beginning Sept. 14. These new options are designed to meet the reader’s lifestyle and news consumption habits.
“We have spent many years improving our local content online to establish unparalleled quality and value for readers and advertisers in our region,” said Vanderhoof. “We believe the time is right for us — as it is for many newspapers across the country — to attach a modest cost for access to our digital content. This shift asks readers to recognize that value irrespective of whether they read the newspaper in print or online.”
