Massive Brush Fire In California

Firefighters in southern California on Tuesday were battling a 750-acre brush fire near the town of Lebec, which is about 77 miles north of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times reported.

At least 20 homes were threatened by the fire, which was moving north and west.

The fire started shortly before 12:25pm, a few hundred yards away from Interstate 5 in Kern County, said Kern County Fire Department spokesman Sean Collins.

Evacuations were ordered for the area as about 150 firefighters on the ground and in aircraft tried to stop the blaze.
