Staten Island’s WTC Memorial Is Vandalized; 3rd Time In 4 Years

A September 11th memorial on Staten Island has been vandalized for the third time in four years.

At least five memorial plaques from the “Postcards” monument were torn off, leaving gaping holes Tuesday.

The memorial along the St. George waterfront is the site of a September 11th memorial service each year.

It has 274 silhouettes honoring the borough residents who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks.

Last year, a homeless woman was arrested and accused of smashing two of the plaques.

In 2007, one plate was smashed and thrown into the water.

The builders have molds for each of the plaques, allowing workers to make quick repairs.
