A pair of armed robbers clad in all black burst into a Diamond District jewelry store Sunday afternoon, tied up an employee and swiped $60,000 in loot, cops said.
The robbers, who wore black clothing, black hats and dark sunglasses, fled the W. 47th St. jeweler, Namat Inc., shortly before 2 p.m. with a haul estimated at $29,000 in cash and $31,000 in jewels, cops said.
The employee told detectives it took him about 20 minutes to free himself before he called 911.
He described the robbers as black men in their late-20s or early 30s. One was stout; the other, who was the one packing heat, was skinny, police said. Police were canvassing the area surrounding the knocked-off jeweler – which is between Fifth and Sixth Avenues – trying to track down anyone who may have seen the robbers making their getaway.
Detectives were also looking to see if security cameras in the store and immediate vicinity captured footage of the crooks, police said.
