Buzz Begins About Greenfield Softball Classic Next Week: Boro Park Shomrim vs 66th NYPD Precinct

Brooklyn — People in Boro Park are talking about next week’s 1st Annual Greenfield Classic, a softball game featuring the 66th Precinct of the NYPD versus the Brooklyn South Shomrim: Boro Park Division. This seven inning game, hosted by Councilman David G. Greenfield, will take place on Wednesday, August 18th, at 6pm SHARP, at the ball field at Gravesend Park (56th Street and 18th Avenue) in Boro Park.

Among those slated to appear at the softball game, which is free and open to the public, are Councilman David Greenfield, Deputy Inspector John Sprague, Shomrim leaders Yanky Daskal, Simcha Bernath and Motty Katz and Misaskim leader Yanky Meyer, as well as top NYPD brass.

“In the dog days of summer, I am excited to be able to host a free event that will bring the community together,” said Councilman David Greenfield. “This softball game presents the community with a great opportunity to get to know the officers of the NYPD’s 66th Precinct and the community leaders of the Boro Park Shomrim.”

Councilman Greenfield continued, “The Boro Park Shomrim and the 66th Precinct have a nearly twenty year history of working together, yet this is the first time they will play each other in a friendly game of softball. I look forward to making this an annual event.”

Refreshments we be provided on a first come, first served basis. Greenfield thanks Misaskim for providing the lights and sound system for the game.

All community members are encouraged to attend next Wednesday’s game and to come before the 6pm start time for the best selection of seats.

  1. There’s an old yidish saying that loosley goes like this:
When a goy comes to town, he looks for a business that is lacking in town so he can make some money.
A yid comes into town, looks for a succesful business and opens up the same thing – two stores away from the fist one.
    DAY L’CHAKIMA B’RIMIZA!!!!
