Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, who accused Israel of murdering former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Harari, said that it had the capability to carry out such an operation, and that all its operations in Lebanon and outside Lebanon were testimony to this.
Nasrallah noted Israel’s past operations in Lebanon and said Syrian President Bashar Assad told him a few weeks before al-Harari was killed that a western senior official said the West does not want Syria’s continued presence in Lebanon. The death of al-Harari was used as a pretext to get Syria out of Lebanon, he said.
