Here’s a tip: When buying computers and computer accessories, make sure to document every little thing relating to the purchase and keep it safely in a file. That way, if something happens to the computer and you need to call tech support, you’ll have all the documentation relating to the purchase date, warranty, and coverage. You don’t want to end up paying several hundred dollars for something that would have been covered by the warranty just because you can’t find the information that proves you’re entitled to the coverage.
Another tip: Buy computers from Apple or another American-based company. Before I bought my Mac, I had a Dell. Their tech support people are based in India, and if you call with a problem, you can never understand what they’re saying. It’s nice that the work enables poor people in India to earn a living, except the advice needs to be intelligible, and the company probably pays them peanuts anyway.
