There were hundreds of people in attendance yesterday at the funeral of Lieutenant Colonial Dov Harari HY”D. Lt. Col. Harari, who was 45 years old and a resident of Netanya, was killed on Tuesday night by Lebanese soldiers while trying to uproot a tree on the Israeli side of the border. IDF forces responded to the assault by shooting at Lebanese forces, killing two Lebanese soldiers and a Lebanese journalist.

Captain Ezra Lakiya was seriously injured in the assault as well. Capt. Lakiya received a citation several years ago after eliminating two terrorists in Yehuda and Shomron. Capt. Lakiya’s condition improved yesterday and he was transferred to the ICU.

UNIFIL forces stationed in Lebanon are investigating and have denounced the Lebanese military for firing on Israeli soldiers who were in Israeli territory.

Tensions between the two sides have been escalating for some time, following reports that Hezbollah was amassing weapons in preparation for another war.
