For little kids (toddler and pre-school), I’d recommend Sandra Boynton and Richard Scarry books. Both authors are entertaining for the parents to read over and over and over and Richard Scarry puts so much detail into his pictures that almost a year after getting one of his books, we’re still finding new things.
