Truck Flips Over On Route 17, Thousands Of Chickens Killed

A tractor-trailer truck carrying thousands of live chickens rolled over on Route 17 near exit 105 early Tuesday morning resulting in a couple of thousand of the birds being killed, said Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Patrol Art Hawker.

The accident occurred around 1 a.m. when the truck, from Murray’s Chicken in South Fallsburg, flipped over. The driver was not injured, said Hawker.

The road was cleared later in the morning and travel returned to normal.

  1. I wouldn’t be surprised if PETA filed a lawsuit for animal neglect. Perhaps if all those birds were wearing seat belts they’d be alive today. 😉

  2. What?! all the poor chickens died and the driver was not injured?!?!?!?!?! I smell a peta video and lawsuit comming! next they’ll have to get the positicians to instate the death penalty for “bizarre” cases where “undue suffering” was caused by “murderous” drivers, claiming precedence rules that a murderer was once given a death sentence when he killed a human, aaaand being that toeiva marriages are supported by all peta animals, they should get their rights like humans……………

  3. “Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Patrol Art Hawker” was on the scene.
