Settlers held rallies at about 15 major Judea and Samaria junctions Monday night to protest earlier demolitions.

Hundreds of rightist activists took part in the protest, dubbed “mutual responsibility.”

The protestors prayed at the junctions and some of them proceeded to block roads. The settlers said they held the demonstrations “to protest Ehud Barak’s brutal acts of destruction ahead of his trip to the United States.”

Border Guard forces deployed at the junctions ahead of the rallies in a bid to prevent disturbances. One Border Guard officer sustained light wounds in the clashes.

Settlers at the Shavei Shomron junction charged that Border Guard used violence against the protestors. The settlers said police officers hurled stun grenades in order to disperse the protest, adding that one demonstrator was hurt and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Border Guard officials said they asked the settlers to evacuate the road and proceeded to remove them when they refused. According to Border Guard forces, they were attacked, with settlers kicking and punching the forces, prompting one of the police officers to hurl a stun grenade.

Earlier Monday, Civil Administration officials razed two caravans and a goat pen built in Givat Ronen in contradiction of the settlement freeze order. Following the demolition, the settlers carried out so-called “price tag” operations that quickly escalated to clashes with Palestinian residents.

Four settlers were hurt in the clashes, including one who sustained serious wounds after being hit by a stone. Meanwhile, the Palestinians said that a resident of the village of Burin was hurt after dozens of settlers raided the community.

The “price tag” operations continued in the afternoon, with settlers allegedly starting fires at several fields in the region.
