Is it really not like that?
Depends on where you go and what you want to do. On St. Thomas (again, only using that because that’s the only Carribean island I’ve been on), the people tend to be conservative. While their dress won’t measure up to the Jewish standards of tznius*, you won’t find people wearing beach attire except at the beach. The fact that we had our own little villa (with our own private pool) helped quite a bit too.
