Ynet News reports:
A haredi riot broke out on Sunday in a postal branch in Jerusalem’s Bukharim neighborhood over Ynet news updates. A group of 25 ultra-Orthodox protested at the site over plasma screens showing Ynet news updates which they referred to as “abomination.” Several rioters even attacked security guards standing outside the branch.
The haredim are claiming that internet news updates shown in the branch are forbidden as they include “immodest materials.”
Postal employees were shut inside the branch while the rioters attempted to break in and destroy the plasma screens. One rioter told Ynet that they are demanding the updates be removed from the site which is located in what he described as a “haredi area.”
Two of the protestors managed to forcefully enter the branch, clashed with security guards, unplugged the electricity cables and were shortly thereafter arrested by police. Dozens of protestors from the Eda Haredit and Neturei Karta faction sprayed a grafitti on the branch’s windows reading “an end to immoral publications.”
The rioters also tore down a mail box and dropped it on the ground.
A postal employee told Ynet that the rioters hit several of the employees. When police officers left the site the protestors shouted out “Nazis” and “Zionists”, however no physical clashes were recorded.
Police are now trying to reach an agreement with Eda Haredit leaders who demanded the updates be removed and the two detainees be released. They threatened to impose a boycott of the Postal Company similar to the one maintained against the real-estate and construction company Electra for its involvement in the Andromeda construction project in Jaffa.
Israel Postal Company said in response that the incident is an isolated affair which they are trying to resolve quickly in order to resume service for local residents. “The Ynet updates that were shown did not include any offensive materials and therefore it is unclear why the commotion started.
Nevertheless, we are hoping that the good relations with the residents will be maintained,” it was stated.
It was further stated that the Postal Company would withdraw its police complaint against the rioters.

As much as I normally oppose the use of force, when dealing with the anti-religious seculars in Israel, force is the only language they understand.
Some people are completely nuts. THEY are the abomination, they are disgusting & cause massive chillul hashem
Firstly, those people should not be called Charedim, mwntaly challenged is a better term. They protest Ynet and then one of them talks to Ynet. You don’t like the screens; don’t go to that post office. Obviously if they are planning a boycott, they can do without it.
Attacking security guards who are doing their jobs and have absolutely no relation to the screens is ludicrous. Paint spraying graffiti is a financial damage and where is there a Mecor that says if you don’t like someone’s religious observance, destroy his property.
CREDIBILITY OF SOURCE??????
YNET is the reporting media on this story and this incident is against YNET.
Do i have to believe a word in this article????????????

deepthinker:
When was the last time the charedi violence riots accomplished ANYTHING?
These rioters are animals plain and pashut.
these protesters better watch themselves , they are about to kill the goose that lays the golden egg for them
A Chillul Hashem is when a medinah that purports to be a “jewish” state displays peritzus in a public forum.
They should all be arrested and learn how to act like mentchen. If they have an issue they should send a letter to the post office from the head of the community stating the problem and to see if it can be resolved. Furthermore the head of the community should inform the members to STAY away until it is resolved and not GO NEAR the offensive place.
Anyone that takes matters into their own hands should have consequences by both the secular authorities and the head of the community since it reflects on the entire community!!!!!

go look at chazal regarding the archityple Kanoy, Pinchas.
Hakodosh Bboruch Hu had to attest that his motives were pure as no one else could know that. Had his motives not been pure he would have been chayav missah for killing Zimri.
Zimri also had the right to turn around and kill Pinchas and be free of all punishment because Pincas was considered a Roydef.
If you are so sure that your motives are 100% lesheym shmayim, then by all means do what needs to be done to stop this abomination… but know that if they aren’t you will probably loose yor oylom haboh for making a chilul Hashem, and those who you call (or think of as) Nazis have every halachick right to beat your head in to protect their property and maintain law and order.
If you are willing to take those risks, be my guest… if not, then maybe boycott the postal service. boycott anyone you want, but don’t cause a chilul Hashem in doing so.
1. Close that Post Office branch for a month. Let the neighborhood residents go to a farther one.
2. Prosecute those arrested.
3. I don’t understand what they mean by “boycott the Postal company.” What, like they will send their mail another way? Like a boycott will hurt the Postal company? What will they do when it comes time to transact business that is done at the post office – applying for medical insurance, paying bills, etc?
4. I wonder how many of the police that are called Nazis had relatives that were killed in the Shoah. What a chillul Hashem to call people such names. And during the 9 days, too. No wonder Moshiach has not come yet.

If you would take the trouble to do the research, instead of merely giving your gur reactions, you would find that countless autopsies on Hareidim were prevented by violent protests, to name just one obvious scenario that comes to mind.
You people don’t realize that the Israeli Government is NOT a democracy. It is an oligarchy, ruled by secular Ashkenzim, who control everything in the country through the Supreme Court, which sticks its nose into every minor and major affair, whenever it so desires, and overrules all the elected and appointed officials.
Membership on the court is carefully controlled to exclude religious members and right-wing lawyers.
The edicts handed down by the court are enforced by brutal police, who laugh at Western notions of civil rights.
The only thing holding back the Supreme Court and their secular controllers, is the threat of civil disorder, if they go too far. And even this would not hold them back, were it not for the constant threats from the Arabs inside and outside of Israel, which keeps the Government too busy to complete their “Final Solution” to the Hareidi “threat.”

How would you feel if some of these cult like people came to your neighborhood either to live or just to riot and the city punished you for it. I imagine you would be upset that not only are the police not reigning them in but they are punishing you after you are suffering from the very same people. I live around the corner from this post office. This is the first I hear of this riot and I was out today. We are suffering a tremendous amount from these people. There are people that are walking around hurting everyone around them and you are considering that I and all the neighbors suffer with no post office or fire and police help because they are crazy. You should come to the neighborhood check out the dynamics, see what the people are going through and hear what they say about it. Don’t sit there on your high-horse deciding how things should be when you do not have an inkling of what is going in which is obvious by your post.
“Deeply Offended”
I was just in Israel and participated in various Chareidi rallies on behalf of Shabbos, grave desecrations as well as standing up against the reform and conservative women who come to rabble rouse at the kosel each rosh chodesh. The good news is that within 8 short years all of Jerusalem will be Chareidi and within 20 years most of Israel will be Chareidi. I spoke to many secular Jews and they are not hateful of Chareidim. In fact I would give each one a blessing that they and their children should one day be Chareidim. Ninety per cent said an enthusiastic Amen. If I would not of heard it myself I would never believe it. Many older Israelis see the corruption of the secular system and would love that their children and grandchildren become strong Chareidim. The government today is only intrested in one objective and that is keeping their seats of power. They will make deals with anyone they can to get the needed votes. The only hope for Israel is to become Chareidi all the way. Some modern orthodox people ask me who will be in the army if everyone is Chareidi. The army today is 30 per cent non Jewish. The Israelis today trust arabs to work in sensetive positions like hospitals, nursing homes, resteraunts, food production, construction, first aid responders etc. so why cant we bring in a million chinese and give them guns like we give the Ethiopians and Russian non jews to defend us. With chinese we could easier monitor who is Jewish unlike the Russian non jews who can pose as Jews due to their similar looks to Jews. And as far a modern day warfare, any kollel wife can learn to use computer monitored missiles and fire them at enemy targets. The situation in Israel has never been as hopeful and encouraging as the growth of Chareidi Jews spreadfs everywhere Than G-d.
Is this a joke? These plasma screens don’t even have pictures of people on them. They just have scrolling headlines from Ynet with the most basic news information like “Netanyahu meets Mubarak in Cairo…”
This is getting too weird for me.
We are all so smart and wise that we need to submit our verdicts in a case where none of us has heard any evidence or questioned anyone. WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE?
Shame on you YWN you only post comments that’s pro isreal. We will all boycott you if this won’t stop. U need to give the opportunity for everybody to post there minds and of course when you are a bunch of apekorsim and we just try to show for the world not to believe in everything u write
Living isolated is causing their children to go off the derech-
in today’s day in age you cant live in a bubble– and if you try to live in a bubble then the youth pop it and escape..
you need to give kids the means to deal with the outside world and to respect the outside world…
acting like an animal and fighting with security guards and destroying postal property is a chilul hashem and simple theft
These animals are no better than the Iranian mullahs. They make one ashamed to be Jewish.
