anon, No one on this thread ever said that a wife cannot ever leave the house. The commentators that quoted the relevant Shulchan Orach and Rambam specifically mentioned that the essential tasks, like some of what you mentioned, can be done without any problem. (In fact Rambam specifically states: “She is not a prisoner who cannot come and go.” – see the top comment on Page 4 of this thread.)
