New York City – After a decision by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to condemn Israel for last month’s raid of a flotilla attempting to break the nation’s legal blockade of Gaza, and with Israel Prime Benjamin Netanyahu currently visiting New York City, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D – Queens and Brooklyn) issued a strong rebuke to the council in a letter addressed to UNHRC President Sihasak Phuangketkeow.
On June 1st, Israeli soldiers raided a ship that was attempting to break the nation’s blockade of Gaza. The incident occurred after the ship, the Mavi Marmara, continued sailing towards Gaza despite repeated warnings by Israel – as well as offers to deliver onboard aid over land to Gaza.
The flotilla was organized by the “Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation”, which has links to terrorism, including Hamas and al-Qaeda. When Israeli soldiers boarded the Mavi Marmara, they were attacked by passengers with metal rods and knives who were chanting ““Intifada! Intifada!”
It is now well-documented that Turkey’s decision to send a flotilla to break Israel’s maritime blockade of Gaza was a deliberate, premeditated publicity stunt meant to provoke Israel and illicit criticism of the blockade from the international community. Not surprisingly, the UNHRC bought the act hook, line and sinker when it continued its tradition of knee-jerk criticisms of Israel by issuing a purely political condemnation of the Middle East’s only true democracy – all before the facts of the incident were clear.
Even though it is clear that the violence aboard the Mavi Marmara was instigated by the militants on board, the UNHRC jumped at the opportunity to slam Israel. “Once again the Council has proven itself a forum for politically-motivated anti-Israel attacks by enemies of Israel rather than acting as a protector of Human Rights or facilitator of peace.” Weiner says in the letter.
“The United Nations needs a Human Rights Council that serves as an impartial beacon of hope, truly dedicated to the protection of human rights around the globe. Unfortunately the Council’s recent action does not live up to the goals and standards established in the UN charter,” Weiner writes.
Weiner also calls on the UNHRC to “immediately cease all politically-motivated anti-Israel actions amongst your ranks.”

Weiner? Weiner?–Are you kidding
He’s marrying an Arab woman this month.
“Sorry, ladies! Huma Abedin is about to become Mrs. Weiner.
“Weiner, who knows she is way outside his league, confirmed the engagement on Sunday. Abedin is Hillary Clinton’s longtime aide and currently works at the State Department. He proposed last May, just days before he published his editorial about why he would not run for mayor…”
This is nothing more than phony grandstanding for his ignorant, elderly Jewish voters, and for the Orthodox Jews who don’t know about his support for imoorality and Leftist causes.
Despite his Jewish-sounding name, it seems that in reality Mr. Weiner is not Jewish according to halacha.
Besides, why does his marrying a woman of Arab descent translate, in your book, to him “grandstanding”? I’ve never heard of him rallying for Jihad or give any other indication to that effect, so why should the race of his wife determine his political views?
HaKatan,
You must forgive ankle Deepthinker. His view point is so narrow-minded that he considers anybody who does not agree with him 100% of the time to be not Jewish.
Good for you, Mr. Weiner (I am not going to take his chesbon; be my guest if you want to)!!
Nonetheless, it is a wasted effort: UN Human Rights Council is the new oxymoron.
