The chutzpa and arrogance of these people is unbelievable. Any person of decency would have resigned months ago. People are blaming Peretz (and deservedly so) for his incompetence and inexperience, yet who appointed him? Does Olmert not share in that also, in addition to his many other failures? What Gaava and Kovod can do to people. These people have no business even trying to run a country.
We are eagerly waiting for Olmert & Peretz to “draw conclusions.” However, a practical warning is in order – DON’T hold your breath!

None of the coalition members are not revolting. Because at this stage Netanyahu would win if the coalition forced Olmert down.
When will the Israelis take a lesson from the US and other governments, and actually use experience as criteria in appointing Cabinet members. Is it such a strange concept to actually appoint someone with financial experience to a financial position, military expertise to a military position, etc?

That’s true, but in a parliamentary system the leader of a party is the one who assumes the appointed position. In my humble opinion, lessons from the US are not applicable. Your suggestion would force Israel to change it’s entire form of government.

That is not true, what you are saying only applies to the Prime Minister. Any other minister or cabinet member in a parliamentary system can be an outside person and not be a member of the Parliament. If I am not mistaken there were ministers in the Israeli government in the recent past who were not members of the Knesset.
gemorakop, I don’t recall when that has happened (unless it was a minister without portfolio). Please enlighten me. I don’t see how that is possible in a parliamentary government, but I could be wrong.

But this is all irrelevant. When will people realize that politics in general and Zionism in particular is not about doing the right thing, but rather what is politically expedient to the one in power?
