Infiltrators from Africa were detected during the night in the Nachal Shlomo area of the border to Egypt. Some 100 infiltrators were detected by IDF soldiers, and fortunately for them, they were apprehended by the IDF, not Egyptian forces that routinely open fire at them, killing many weekly.

Of the group, seven were treated for dehydration, with some, including pregnant women, transported to Yosef-Tal Hospital in Eilat. The illegals were transported to an immigration holding facility for processing ahead of deportation.

There is a daily and steady stream of Africans seeking to cross into Israel illegally, with many succeeding in the hope of finding employment and a better life.

The illegals from Sudan and other areas has plagued Tel Aviv, perhaps to the delight of those seeking inexpensive unskilled labor but this reality is leaving many citizens without work, as well as resulting in a sharp increase in crime, including many violent attacks against the elderly perpetrated by Darfur refugees in Israel in particular.
