Macs (with OSX) are not meant to be tinkered with as much “under the hood” than Windows PCs. I am also less familiar with Macs, though I have used them a fair amount. My PC doesn’t spy on me, because I know how to configure it.
Additionally, Macs use proprietary hardware that makes it difficult to customize or upgrade without sending it to an [Apple-authorized, read: expensive] shop. I can pull open my PC and completely change the hardware configuration in a matter of 30 minutes.
