One caveat to your statement that someone should take any job available to support a family is that the job must cover work-associated expenses. When I was the primary breadwinner (my husband was in training & his salary was not large) & looking for a job, I had to make sure it would cover childcare & transportation costs. These expenses (especially childcare) can be significant, so it really wouldn’t have been worthwhile for me to take a job bagging groceries. I realize that’s not the case for most people though.
