3:15PM EST: [UPDATE BELOW] A power outage has hit the southern tip of Brooklyn, with thousands currently without power, YWN has learned.
According to the NYC OEM, Con Edison has emergency crews working on the power outage, which is affecting the Sea Gate and Coney Island sections of Brooklyn.
The total number of affected people is estimated to be at 8,311. This includes two NYCHA projects in the area.
The boundaries of the area affected is:
North-Polar Street
South-Mermaid Avenue
East-West 27th Street
West-The Seagate Complex.
As of this posting, there is no estimated time for power restoration.
UPDATE 4:45PM EST: The NYC OEM reports that power has been restored to almost all homes. The remainder should be restored in an hour.
