Israel Rated Most Dangerous Country for Pedestrians


Sadly, Israel ranks first in a study of the number of pedestrians killed on the nation’s roads in relation to the total number of fatalities in motor vehicle accidents.

Israel Police officials report that 33% of all MVA fatalities are pedestrians, leading the world. In second place is Ireland (26%), followed by Portugal (25%), UK (23%), Italy (20%), Switzerland (18%), France (15%), Spain and Germany (14%), USA (11%), Belgium (10%), and Holland (9%).

There were 130 fatal accidents in Israel in the first four months of 2010 as compared to 125 during the same time period in 2009 in which 158 people were killed as compared to 142 in 2009.

  1. I’ve heard it said, that there are only ‘First-Class’ drivers in Israel. The others, unfortunately, are ….

  2. To all the above comments, have you ever visited communties such as Boro Park where there are alot of people who don’t know how to cross nor drive.
    As a driver and a walker i have seen both sides.
    A lot is because of the avoda zorah called “cellphones”.
