A controversial bid to name a Brooklyn street after the late self-proclaimed “anti-white” activist Sonny Carson isn’t dead just yet – according to this mornings NY Post. A pair of Community Board 3 members have filed a lawsuit against the City Council, charging its decision to remove Carson’s name from a list of proposed street renamings was “arbitrary and capricious.” They want it overturned by a judge.
Council Speaker Christine Quinn had Carson’s name removed from a list of proposed renamings last week, and said it would be voted on at a later date.
The suit calls the move “unprecedented,” and said it violates the constitutional rights of Brooklyn residents who’d wanted a four-block stretch of Gates Avenue named for Carson, who died in 2002.
In a statement, a spokesman for the council said it has the final decision-making powers on the matter.

this lowlife threatened the lives of jewish teachers in the late 60’s…and they want to honor him??? what a double standard!!!
serves the teachers right for wanting to teach there (in nyc)
unfortunately, yeshiva’s dont pay a salary (if they pay; do they still make rebbeim wait for their checks???)
they should name a street for him. It should be a dead-end and they should line it with porta-johns (portable public restrooms).
…and to all those who write to tell me that “they” whomever they are read this site and I should be more sensitive, don’t bother.
“arbitrary and capricious”
Funny that the closest these people can come to sounding polished and educated is by using lines off of television.
