josephf, unfortunately it is not as uncommon as you would think. A woman I know was fired for not lying to teachers, over the simple matter of when their photocopies would be ready. (The principal and office manager wanted her to tell the teachers it would be ready sooner than it actually would be, so they would feel better.) (This was at the “frummer” school.)
