Dublin to Israel: Recall Mossad Official

Ireland’s foreign minister, Micheal Martin on Tuesday called on Israel to recall a member of Jerusalem’s diplomatic team in Dublin, the representative of the Mossad. The move is the result of Ireland’s acceptance of a Dubai theory that Israel’s Mossad Intelligence Agency is behind the assassination of senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a Dubai hotel. Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan reports that Mossad agents used many forged foreign passports, including eight from Ireland, leading to Minister Martin’s decision.

Martin declined to name the diplomat who he wants recalled, but he did release a statement to the media highlighting the seriousness of Israel’s actions, forging passports of a nation which maintains full and good diplomatic relations with Jerusalem.

It should be pointed out that Ireland admits its own investigation does not point to Israel arranging the forged passports, but Dublin nevertheless has opted to follow Australia and Britain, both ordering Israeli diplomats out of their countries for involvement in forged passports.
