Pregnant Mom Stabbed to Death in Israel

Tali Atar z”l, 34, of Ashdod, who was 8 months pregnant, died of her massive stab wounds on Sunday. She was stabbed to death by her neighbor due to an argument regarding spilled coffee. She died shortly after doctors in Kaplan Hospital delivered her baby, who remains in serious condition on life support.

Tali was in her third floor apartment when her downstairs neighbor angrily knocked on her door. Mem, 34, the mother of two, explained that Tali spilled coffee on her clothes that were drying outside on the clothesline. The two went downstairs to check and before Tali could really address the situation, Mem pulled a knife and according to neighbors, began stabbing Tali in a rage, striking her in the abdomen, neck and chest. Tali desperately tried running but collapsed. Hysterical neighbors called police and Magen David Adom.

Tali was transported to Kaplan Hospital in Rechovot, where doctors delivered her fourth child by C section.

A neighbor reported that Tali’s three children, 12, 10 and 6 heard her screams and after realizing what had occurred, they were no longer capable of speaking. Police report the children were just dropped off, and they witnessed the horror of seeing their mother lying in a pool of blood fighting for her life.

Tali was a single parent mom and the children are being placed in the custody of social services for the time being, as are the children of Mem, another single mom.

Police admit they are astounded that a mother took the life of another mother, one who was 8 months pregnant, over a spilled cup of coffee.
