Israeli: Southern Resident Sentenced in Shul Arson Attack

The Beersheva District Court on Sunday sentenced Tzvi Akravi from Moshav Mivtachim in the south to 4.5 years imprisonment after he was convicted of an arson attack against the communitys shul last year. He set the shul ablaze as a result of a dispute with the shuls vaad (board of directors).

The dispute revolved around his home, a dispute that was ongoing for years. The moshav slated the home for demolition but the defendant insisted that the home, which was his grandfathers, today is rightfully his. The communitys engineer recommended the demolition, and the night he was asked to leave the home, the shul was set ablaze.
