Does every Chasidus have one?
February 7, 2017 12:35 am at 12:35 am #1216829LightbriteParticipantWasn’t there only one Frierdiker Rebbe?
If you mean a Rebbe like the Frierdiker Rebbe then also no because every one has a unique neshamah and there was only one Frierdiker Rebbe and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
February 7, 2017 12:47 am at 12:47 am #1216830☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantThey do, but there’s a difference between “the previous Rebbe” and
“the Previous Rebbe” (Rav Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn of Chabad).
Of course, these 2 phrases sound the same when spoken aloud.
February 7, 2017 1:13 am at 1:13 am #1216831JosephParticipantWhy does Lubavitch get to capitalize it whereas other Chasidus’ do not, in your opinion?
February 7, 2017 1:26 am at 1:26 am #1216832LightbriteParticipantNo one is stopping other Chassidic Dynasties from differentiating between their Rebbes
Why do you get to single out Chabad Lubavitch?
There are many layers into their why.
Why not go ask your LOCR yourself?
February 7, 2017 1:44 am at 1:44 am #1216833Neville ChaimBerlinParticipant“LOCR”
Brilliant. I love it. Assuming you mean local Orthodox coffee room.
The difference with Chabad is that the previous rebbe will always be considered the previous rebbe. In other circles, the current rebbe will eventually be previous, as will all future rebbes.
February 7, 2017 3:09 am at 3:09 am #1216834HaLeiViParticipantSome call him the Rebbe Zichrono Livracha or Ruv Zichrono Livracha. By some it’s Rabini Hakadosh. In this regard Satmar is like Chabad.
February 7, 2017 3:28 am at 3:28 am #1216835LightbriteParticipantNeville ChaimBerlin Lol!
Local Orthodox Chabad Rabbi 🙂
February 7, 2017 4:01 am at 4:01 am #1216836JosephParticipantIf the Chasidus has had three or more Rebbes, and the immediate previous one is the Frierdiker Rebbe, what are the earlier ones referred to as?
February 7, 2017 5:20 am at 5:20 am #1216837YesOrNoParticipantThe Chasidim may give each Rebbe a unique name…
Sometimes it’s based on his actual name, sometimes based on a Sefer he wrote, sometimes based on where he lived, and sometimes based on something else…
1. Alter Rebbe (Baal Hatanya V’Shulchan Aruch)
2. Mittler Rebbe
3. Tzemach Tzedek
4. MaHaRash
5. RaShab
6. RaYaTz (Der Frierdiger Rebbe)
7. The Rebbe (Nishmaso Eden)
February 7, 2017 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #1216838Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant“Baal Hatanya V’Shulchan Aruch”
Do you mean: “Baal Hatanya v’Shulchan Aruch HaRav”?
February 7, 2017 3:46 pm at 3:46 pm #1216839–Participant“Baal Hatanya V’Shulchan Aruch”
Do you mean: “Baal Hatanya v’Shulchan Aruch HaRav”?
No, the title is just “Shulchan Aruch”. Since it is being mentioned together with the Tanya there is no need to further differentiate it from Maran’s Shulchan Aruch.
February 7, 2017 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #12168405ishParticipantYesorNo “The Rebbe Nishmaso Eden” is another name of The Rebbe RaSHaB.
The 7th and current Rebbe is just “The Rebbe”
February 7, 2017 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #1216841theprof1Participanteach chasidic sect has different ways of referring to previous rebbes. Ger for example called the Imrei Emes, the rebbe of Poland, frierdeker rebbe until the Bais Yisroel was niftar. In Satmar Rabbeni Yoel is just called the rebbe zl or rabbeini. There isn’t a set name anywhere. Its just something that pops up.
February 7, 2017 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #1216842Ex-CTLawyerParticipantLife is easier for a misnagid
February 8, 2017 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm #1216843HaLeiViParticipantCTLAWYER, really? How many ‘The Rav’s are there? What about Maran, or The Rosh Yeshiva Zatzal? Then there’s ‘Reb Henech’; which ‘Reb Henech’; what do you mean which Reb Henech, Reb Henech!
February 10, 2017 6:22 am at 6:22 am #1216844kj chusidParticipantThe straight-thinking Jew looks on in astonishment, thinking: what do these rebels against G-d and His Torah have to do with the Land of Israel? (Mishmeres Chomoseinu 20 Shvat 5716)
I hereby join with the honored rabbis who oppose and protest against Mizrachi and the like. They do not walk in the spirit of the Torah. I wish to convey in writing that the Jewish people should separate themselves from this terrible desecration. Let the defiled leave the face of the Holy Land! (Om Ani Chomah, 5709 ch. 4 p. 400)
We are foresworn by the covenant of G-d that we cannot overcome [exile] with might or power, only by understanding and knowing the word and command of G-d. (ibid.)
February 10, 2017 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm #1216845HaLeiViParticipantLooks like you have this print on Alt+Enter or something.
February 10, 2017 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #1216846kj chusidParticipantThere’s a website that has all this I just C/P to shine light on a subject many choose to ignore
February 12, 2017 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #1216847Neville ChaimBerlinParticipantLol, HaLeivi.
KJ Chusid! Long time no see!
February 14, 2017 8:47 pm at 8:47 pm #1216848cherrybimParticipantIt’s: The Rebbe, Zeicher Tzadik Livracha
February 16, 2017 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #1216849cherrybimParticipantMost people don’t know that the Frierdiker Rebbe wore long peyos under his hat/yarmulke.
February 16, 2017 9:33 pm at 9:33 pm #1216850JosephParticipantHe also wore a shtreimal.
February 16, 2017 11:25 pm at 11:25 pm #12168515ishParticipantNo he did not wear a shteimel. He wore a spodek.
