If you’re sending from the United States, it’s better to leave the postal code off. Some sorting machines may mistake it for a domestic zip code.
I advise not to put on the zip code. It is not needed by the Israeli PS, most people don’t even know their zips! And it can just get the USPS confused, since they can scan it and send it to some obscure US city with the same zip.
WinnieThePooh: I recently sent two important cards to mishpacha. I am a direct descendant of Yosef ha Tzaddik (as we all are), so I know that ayin hara cannot touch me, B”H.
Still… for the next time, and hereafter, should I really not put any zip code? I get why it helps to do that in the US, so it’s sent directly to Israel.
However, isn’t it risky to just put the city without a zip? I know that Israel is small, still how will they know?

Zips are not really used in Israel, don’t worry about it.
Actually, most people are not using the post service these days because mail is unlikely to arrive in a timely manner. Wedding/bar mitzva invitations, are either hand-delivered or emailed. There are delivery services/gemachs just for that purpose. I just heard that companies like the electric company have even hired special delivery services to deliver the bills since they were arriving after the pay-by-date.
Just went to the post office to pick up some registered mail. Got the notice that it arrived at the end of last week. It was dated Dec 20- took a month to arrive! Meanwhile, the package had already been sent back to the sender.
And by the way, I am not a descendant of Yosef Hatzaddik. We come from Levi. Yosef’s descendants were exiled with the 10 tribes and are lost.
LB – maybe it’s a different person. I’m not 100% sure, but I think that when a person’s name is changed, it changes for all the past posts as well. Unless of course, they sign up as a different person with a different account. But in that case, I doubt they would use a similar name.
Sometimes it’s confusing, because you’ll be looking at a past thread and you’ll see someone refer to “chanie” and you won’t see any Chanies (because Chanie’s name has since been changed to Shprintzy, and you can’t figure out who she is talking about.
WTP: According to chazal (hopefully I am using this term correctly), every Jew can say that he/she is a direct descendant of Yosef ha Tzaddik.
It doesn’t interfere with your known lineage. It adds to it. Yet I don’t think that you’re obligated to say it.
This is one thing, that I am holding onto as true, that I learned from a shiur, and was confirmed by a LOR.
