My sister recently got divorced. She was only married for 6 months and had no kids baruch Hashem. Can anyone recommend shadchanim who would know guys for her? She is a great great girl.
January 17, 2017 11:02 pm at 11:02 pm #1209644Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI would think she could go to the same shadchanim that anyone else goes to. But am I being naive? Certainly, if she were older, she could, but maybe it’s different if you’re young? Did she try regular shadchanim? Maybe even if they can’t help her, they would know other shadchanim who could?

Oh please

Maybe she should look into why her marriage didn’t work out.
There’s no rush to get married again!

January 18, 2017 12:54 am at 12:54 am #1209650LightbriteParticipantLOL!! @ Mod’s “Oh please”
January 18, 2017 1:01 am at 1:01 am #1209651LightbriteParticipantShe doesn’t have to be in a rush to meet with a shadchan.
Talking to the shadchan may help her deal with why she got divorced (selecting a more suitable mate for her for life).
Also that wasn’t really answering her question.
Some shadchanim specialize in helping certain populations of individuals. It can enhance their focus and pool of potential applicants.
Then again some may do well working with anyone and everyone.
On the other hand, others may serve underserved singles, such as individuals who have been divorced, are older, and/or have specific health issues.
Where is dear Mussar47? She(?) may have references B”H

January 18, 2017 2:00 am at 2:00 am #1209653Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantAnyone who has gone through such a traumatic experience has certainly thought a lot about this decision.
It is actually quite impressive that she is already ready to move on and date again. Many people would not be able to do so. Kol hakavod!
January 18, 2017 2:01 am at 2:01 am #1209654JosephParticipantiac, dating or remarriage?
January 18, 2017 2:02 am at 2:02 am #1209655Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant“Please consult a Rav.”
Of course she has to ask a sheilah – I was just curious since you brought it up. I would imagine the issue is marrying, not dating though, which is unlikely to be an issue anyhow. But of course, she should ask a Rav in any case, as you pointed out.
