Many senior IDF officers serving in the intelligence corps on Thursday visited Ponevezh Yeshiva, observing the learning in the beis medrash, and receiving words of chizuk from the Roshei Yeshiva Shlita.

The main address to the tens of senior officers was delivered by Rosh Yeshiva HaGaon Rabbi Gershon Edelstein Shlita, who explained the privilege of those learning in beis medrash, the Torah that guarantees our existence, especially in these times as the world turns against us.

The rav related to the military hierarchy, the fact that there are soldiers, officers and senior officers, as well as administrative and kitchen personnel. In yeshiva however, the Rosh Yeshiva explained the learning is the same and the zchus of the talmid is no less than that of the rabbonim, all learning Torah towards the continued existence of Am Yisrael. 

The Rav added the unique quality of Am Yisrael, and the concern for one another even in different countries, and the special reward that awaits those who are willing to sacrifice themselves for their people.

“You must all be aware that we are all brothers and our neshamas are connected. We must want and pray that Moshiach will arrive speedily in our days and until then, we must live side-by-side in peace and harmony” the Rosh Yeshiva told the officers.
