I’ve seen many articles written by Rabbi Yair Hoffman, but I have never heard of him from anywhere else other than YWN. Does he really exist or is it just a pen name for someone or a group of people?
How can anyone rely on him if no one knows who he is?
August 11, 2016 6:38 pm at 6:38 pm #1164733mo4644MemberI could not find any picture or info about him from google, either.
August 11, 2016 6:43 pm at 6:43 pm #1164734lesschumrasParticipantHe writes a weekly column for the Five Towns Jewish Times and I believe that’s where he lives

August 11, 2016 8:06 pm at 8:06 pm #1164738Mashiach AgentMembernope . hes just your imaginational Rabbi of someone else writing these letters with a make up name & nice mens face make up. Enjoy his entertaining questions while he lasts anonymously, before someone discovers what his real name is
August 11, 2016 8:15 pm at 8:15 pm #1164739Veltz MeshugenerMemberHe just called me to let me know I should pass this along – he does not exist.
August 11, 2016 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm #1164740SoftwordsParticipantThis is a silly question. Yes, he really exist. On the bug video on YWN you can hear his voice and if you search him on YouTube you can watch him interview a politician.
August 11, 2016 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #1164741CTRebbeParticipantI know its hard to believe, but people could exists outside of google. I don’t think DeCarte said “I am googled therefore I am”
August 11, 2016 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm #1164742SparklyMemberjust because your not on google doesnt mean you dont exist. its called not having social media like facebook.
August 11, 2016 8:59 pm at 8:59 pm #1164743JosephParticipantHe writes news articles and interviews people in the news, in addition to his interpretation of news events on how he perceives them to fit with his hashkafa. He’s also a high school rebbi at one of the local yeshivas in the Long Island area.
August 11, 2016 9:52 pm at 9:52 pm #1164744Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantmo4644 – do you exist?
August 12, 2016 12:04 am at 12:04 am #1164745Neville ChaimBerlinParticipantCTRebbe: I googled that quote, and DeCartes DID say that!
August 12, 2016 12:39 am at 12:39 am #1164746dovrosenbaumParticipantI think he’s brilliant. I love his halacha articles. He’s one of the few who has the courage to call out the hechsherim selling infested produce as kosher.
August 12, 2016 9:02 am at 9:02 am #1164747NechomahParticipantI e-mailed him a question one time and got a response, so I guess he does exist at least in cyberspace.
August 12, 2016 12:17 pm at 12:17 pm #1164748farrockgrandmaParticipantYes, there is life outside of Brooklyn.
Rabbi Hoffman is learned, intelligent, and a good speaker (although I have rarely heard him speak in public). He also teaches and leads chesed projects at local schools.
August 12, 2016 1:50 pm at 1:50 pm #1164749yehudayonaParticipantDescartes, not DeCarte or even DeCartes.
