Not to be controversial with the topic title, but do women (women who daven maariv) have to repeat krias shema after tzeis if they davened maariv before the zman (which I also don’t understand)? And why?
I once asked a Rosh Yeshiva whether we had recited the shema late enough at maariv that night. He read me the riot act, saying that in the time that it would take for me to ask the shilah and get a response, I could have recited the shema!
Yes, but in the time it took you to ask and be answered, you also found out what the earliest time you could be yotzei is, so you’d know for the future.
