Children need pure play, not toys contaminated with school.

so i guess according to you its also bad for children to read books that teach them proper middos & about yomim tovim etc… (thus teaching them school lessons while enjoying a book)

Those are not school lessons, and toys are different from books.

I think that by definition “toys” include just about any object that a child can make use of to engage his/her imagination and learn about him/herself and his/her environment.

It doesn’t have to be confined to traditionally accepted toys like a ball or a doll. Even items commonly found around the home like cardboard boxes, pebbles, bottle caps, articles of clothing, etc. can be the catalyst for exploration and experimentation that fascinates the child and that he/she can learn from.

In my opinion, as long as the item is age appropriate (e.g.; not a choking hazard, a sharp object, toxic chemical or fire hazard) there’s not much to worry about.

As for spiritual dangers from reading materials, that’s a much more complicated issue than I can respond to.

I agree with Reb Yidd. Toys that are designed to teach the ABC’s or some other pre-school skillset are annoying and no substitute for normal learning.

I found that many “educational” toys and videos have little educational content. That content is only there to appease parents and make them think that the toy/video is of some value.

well some of us shall be utilizing toys during the Seder, such as toy replicas of the plagues, & we are not placing a Shailo with rebyidd123 on this issue, to get his green light.

Those are not toys, those are visual aids. Children still need plain old-fashioned toys to play with.
