My son is nine and a half and still wets the bed every night. To keep the mattress dry we have him wear pullups training pants from pampers. They have a special feature on them that when they get wet the picture will fade. Is that a problem of moichek on shabbos? If yes what should I get him instead?
February 12, 2016 2:06 pm at 2:06 pm #1137316☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy is that feature there?
You need to ask a real posek, not the CR, but off the top of my head, it’s ??? ?????, and if it’s ?? ???? ??? (which is why I asked the purpose of it fading) it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s a big if, though.
February 12, 2016 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm #1137317MenoParticipantI’m not a rabbi, but off hand I can think of a bunch of factors that would make it not a problem:
1) If he’s sleeping when it happens, it’s probably Mis’asek (or maybe less)
2) It’s a Melocho She’eina Tzricha L’gufa
3) It’s probably considered Kil’achar Yad
4) Is Mocheik even a problem with pictures (not words)?
I’m sure there’s more…

February 12, 2016 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #1137319thatseasy32MemberThe feature is there as a wetness indicator to tell him if he’s wet. Also as a side it gives him the will to stay dry as he doesn’t want the picture to fade.
I tried the goodnites but found they still leaked as he is too skinny for them. Is putting him back in baby diapers an issue as his confidence and self esteem may fade away?

The first might be considered nicha lei, the second wouldn’t be.
Meno, there is koseiv and mochek on pictures.
February 12, 2016 5:13 pm at 5:13 pm #1137321thatseasy32MemberShould I put him in diapers or is that too babyish for him to wear. especially when he has friends over if they see his diapers he’ll be the laughing stock of his class.

He is a kattan.
February 14, 2016 6:22 am at 6:22 am #1137323MammeleParticipantPlease don’t put him in diapers. Pull- ups are bad enough for his confidence.
Have you tried waking him in middle of the night to go the bathroom? It’s very hard to time it just right, but worth a shot.
The good news is that he’ll outgrow it IY”H, the bad news is that it may still take a couple of years. Hatzlacha!

Why does everything become a Halachah question, when it’s a medical one? You don’t have to go into kid pullups, when they sell adult pullups! Use a small size.
Also, learn what to do about bed wetting. Eg. go to WebMd – children – bedwetting.
February 14, 2016 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm #11373262scentsParticipantThis IS a Halacha question and needs the psak of someone that is qualified to pasken.
Also, doing your own research is a great way to keep yourself informed, do NOT rely on any online sites for diagnosis and treatment.

My point was – that you don’t need to go into things that could be a Shailoh. And I thought that my point was obvious!
