Are vaccines for animals an evil plot by the manufacturers who bribe the government into recommending them? Should I not vaccinate my dog?
December 23, 2015 2:37 am at 2:37 am #1118665charliehallParticipant“Should I not vaccinate my dog?”
If you want your dog to die a miserable death from a preventable disease, do not vaccinate it.
December 23, 2015 3:22 am at 3:22 am #1118666offbeat2MemberPets have immune systems too.
Heard a comment from a MO lady: Orthodox jews should never have pets because they won’t know how to take care of them.
And there’s a ton of halachos involved, if you know them all you wont WANT to own a pet:) lol

No, it gives one more opportunities to fulfill mitzvot. Every time we see that our cats are fed before we ourselves eat is yet another mitzvah fulfilled.

December 23, 2015 1:52 pm at 1:52 pm #1118670👑RebYidd23ParticipantI don’t think that prejudice against Orthodox Jews is fair when it comes to pets and responsibility. Right now I don’t have a dog, but I may have one sometime in the future. And if I do get a dog, I will learn how to take care of one first.
December 23, 2015 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm #1118671offbeat2MemberI didn’t say I myself don’t think that Orthodox jews wont know how to care for pets, just quoted it.
Orthodox jews will be less likely to own pets because they’ll need to give it more care than they’ll have time for.
And it’s an added expense too.
December 23, 2015 7:03 pm at 7:03 pm #1118672offbeat2MemberForget the expense.

December 23, 2015 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #1118673👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhen you have a pet, you have to pay for its care, which usually costs a lot more than the animal itself. Plus your cat may need therapy if it gets a chemical imbalance in its brain, which will happen according to the antivaxxers. And you have to make the decision of which vaccines to give.
December 24, 2015 5:29 am at 5:29 am #1118674yehudayonaParticipantWhat vaccines are recommended for goldfish? If you try to stick a needle in a per rock, it’s likely to break.
December 25, 2015 1:49 pm at 1:49 pm #1118675B1g B0yParticipantThe gemara says a lot of things about owning a dog, none of them good.
Don’t vaccinate, send the money you would have used for vaccination to a worthy cause (not PETA or ASPCA) and get rid of the dog.
You will become a happier, more caring person.
December 25, 2015 2:35 pm at 2:35 pm #1118676👑RebYidd23ParticipantI will take some of your advice. I won’t get a third Great Dane unless I have to, and I won’t give them the HPV vaccine.
All the people I know who have dogs are happier and more caring than those who don’t. It’s probably a coincidence, but it’s true.
December 25, 2015 3:13 pm at 3:13 pm #1118677Matan1ParticipantMore caring? How?
December 25, 2015 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm #1118678👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhat measures do you use?
December 26, 2015 5:44 pm at 5:44 pm #1118679B1g B0yParticipantMATAN 1
All the caring that is wasted on the dog can be channeled toward family and friends
December 26, 2015 11:39 pm at 11:39 pm #1118680👑RebYidd23ParticipantIt doesn’t use up.
December 28, 2015 8:56 pm at 8:56 pm #1118681B1g B0yParticipantYou are correct however it does shift the focus
