why can’t you ask a kasha on a ma’aseh, doesn’t the kasha prove that the ma’aseh probably never happen?
No, fun a a kasha shtarbn nisht. There are plenty of true maasim with kashas on them.
R’ Ovadia Yosef used to prove that Ma’asehs didn’t happen because they’re against Gemaras.
Sam – I have a kasha on that ma’asah.
It is supposed to mean not to ask why the fellow did one thing and not another. Being that it’s a story and not a prediction it comes with ???????? which makes such Kushyos moot.
It’s one of those asinine expressions, where the questionee doesn’t know the answer but thinks s/he sounds smarter if s/he doesn’t admit it. This expression is even worse than “let’s agree to disagree” or the like, because it attempts to portray the question as being faulty.
Let everyone be reminded that in the Talmud stories were constantly questioned.
