Hi everyone!
A few months ago, I asked for some help with preparing a speech and the cr proved to be invaluable.
And here I am again, fighting off my stage fright nerves… I need a story on anavah (humility) about a gadol. I’ve looked through all of the inspirational short story books I could find and none of them contain stories about anavah- it’s so frustrating.
Thank you in advance for your help!

He (the leader of klal yisroel) made himself equal to every yid that spoke to him. even the lowest of them. just to make them feel comfortable to speak to their leader. he would not accept any respect openly from any person in the world although he knew who he was (sure klal yisroel respected him but not face to face cause Moshe rabeiniu remembered the key to success of humility. he remembered where he came from & where he is heading etc… dust & ashes etc…)
STORY
many years ago There was a great Rabbi & his wagon driver who were passing through a small town & it was almost Shabbos. at that time the rabbi was not well known & him & his wagon driver went to shul & after davening were hoping to be invited over for a meal. there was a poor man who didn’t have much & he saw that no one invite the rabbi & the wagon driver so he went over to them & said I don’t have much but you can join me & my wife for the Shabbos meals. They joined him for a simple but lovely meal & after Shabbos continued on their journey.
Many years later, when this rabbi had become famous he was again passing through the same town he had passed many years earlier on an erev Shabbos. Seeing the famous rabbi, the wealthiest person of the town approached the rabbi & his wagon driver and assisted he come to join them for Shabbos. The great rabbi looked at the rich man & said, many years ago I came into town & you didn’t even notice me, the only difference now is that now I have more horses, so you can keep my horses in your stables but I am going to join the poor man that hosted us when we first came through this town. The rabbi & wagon driver then had a simple & lovely Shabbos at the poor mans house & the rich man learned a valuable lesson
Hatzlacha with the story

As they finished Davening, an older man approached him with his hand stretched out
Reuven gave the man a quarter, which the man accepted, put in his pocket and walked on
Guess who…

The chassidim listened in astonishment to the words of the Chozeh. They marveled at his modesty and the word spread throughout Poland. Impressed by this news, thousands of new chassidim began flocking to him.

April 30, 2015 3:39 am at 3:39 am #1074071Little FroggieParticipantJust read some stories about Rav Moshe ztatz”l. In my opinion he was the paragon, the epitome of humility.
One story about how he was exiting a car and heard a boy calling “Moishe” (his friend). He didn’t realize, and walked over to the boy to ask him what he wanted!!
A printer called him frantically and explained that someone hurriedly deposited manuscripts, needed a “rush job” to get it in print. Upon inspection, he realized it was full of ridicule and vitriol at Rav Moshe and his pesakim. All shaken, he wanted to know what to do. Rav Moshe gave him full permission, and instructed him to do it!!
He once found a boy crying, looking for his friend… took care of him, went from group to group, found his friends…
So many others…

I’m definitely going to use some of these in my speech. You’re all so sweet to have helped me like this.
