Help! My name is Abraham and I am a very average upper middle class Jew. My family and I reside in upstate New York. My wife and I have been blessed with three children and for the past 18 years have been living in complete peace and harmony. My problem arose a few months ago when my eldest son, Aaron, started acting differently. Having once been a young adult like my son I thought nothing of this as the saying does go, “boys will be boys.” The next night however I heard rustling from down the hall. Concerned for the safety of my family I entered down the hall and into his room where the sound was coming from. To my complete and utter surprise I witnessed Aaron sprawled under the covers with a bag of Evan’s brand Pork Rinds. As a practicing Jew I do not condemn my next actions. I bellowed at my son and struck him once and grabbing the bag I exited his room. The next morning I arose and went downstairs to speak to my son about the severity of his actions. I lectured him of the Kosher laws and the importance of staying by them but to no avail. He told me that he found them ridiculous and that laughed at my Jewish faith. This is not the boy I raised. Please help me before it is too late.

    It’s already too late.

Lol at the bit of being concerned for the safety of your family ‘cuz you heard rustling pork rinds.

“As a practicing Jew I do not condemn my next actions. I bellowed at my son and struck him once and grabbing the bag I exited his room.”

Those actions are extremely damaging and probably did far more harm than good.

    @DaasYochid,

Sorry, but your jib about the rustling pork rinds is uncalled for. This yid is in pain.

@RebYidd23, as the op points out, he’s ashamed of his actions. He needs advice on the proper next move.

@yitzchokm, Yes, he might have pulled a muscle laughing so hard at the people who believed his tale.

I was not surprised to find that the thread-starter had been a member for 3 hours.

This kind of behavior is not likely, unless the parent was completely oblivious to everything until that point.

And then, a few undescribed months later, this thread is created. I think everyone should be able to see the problem now…

(Not to mention that “rustling” coming from a room one can

expect to be in use is no cause for alarm, and that no frum

Jew would describe himself as “practicing.”)

Did you ever directly advise him not to eat pork?

Sounds like some teenager wrote this and yanked more than a few CR chains. I have no doubt that there are many families experiencing such a crisis, and for that reason it disturbs me all the more that someone would post this. Pork rinds???? Seriously???? And then you say you “heard” rustling down the hall from under his covers? Are you Superman?

maybe the pork rinds were kosher imitations

maybe it was a clone of your son

Would the clone not also be Jewish?

But if the clone was eating imitation pork rinds that would be ok.

    😉

But there are multiple mods, so one might approve the posts that the other mod is purposefully ignoring.

Or one mod might approve the poster that the other mod is purposefully ignoring.
