Which food has an option of 5 diiferent brochos that can be made on it (B’dieved) before eating it? What is the food and what are the 5 Brochos?
July 11, 2014 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm #1094956popa_bar_abbaParticipantwine
hagefen,

July 11, 2014 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm #1094957popa_bar_abbaParticipantAm i right?
July 11, 2014 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm #1094958artachshastaParticipantI got 7:
Korban Pesach in Koreich, according to Hillel
Al Achilas Pesach (L’chatchila)
Al Achilas Zevach (B’dieved)
Hamotzi (L’chatchila, if you haven’t made it yet)
Al Achilas Matzos U’Mrorim (L’chatchila)
Mezonos (B’dieved)
Shehakol (B’dieved)
Haadama (B’dieved, it counts for the Marror).
July 11, 2014 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm #1094959outreach613ParticipantI don’t know the answer – I was relying on you guys…
Are your answers above true?
July 11, 2014 5:50 pm at 5:50 pm #1094960Sam2ParticipantDepending on who you hold like, a grape should be able to have Ha’eitz, Ha’adamah, HaGefen, Mezonos, and Shehakol work for it. Grape juice also probably has all 5 work.
July 11, 2014 6:00 pm at 6:00 pm #1094961outreach613Participantwhy mezonos?
July 11, 2014 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #1094962👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhy not?
July 11, 2014 6:51 pm at 6:51 pm #1094963FriendInFlatbushParticipantWine can also have a shehechiyanu said on it, as well as the brachos of kiddush on Shabbos or Yom Tov.
July 11, 2014 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #1094964Sam2Participantoutreach: There is a Magen Avraham who says that B’dieved Mezonos works on anything except for water and salt.
July 11, 2014 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #1094965ari-freeParticipantA sandwich made of different things and you decide which is tofel/ikar?
July 11, 2014 7:55 pm at 7:55 pm #1094966oomisParticipantI was thinking a fruit pizza made with banana, grapes, oranges, sweet (wine) sauce of some type,
July 11, 2014 11:22 pm at 11:22 pm #1094967Gryffindorable GirlMemberCan’t sushi have four? Because rice isn’t BROWS so you don’t HAVE TO make mezonot? If there’s a small piece of fish, fruit (like mango or avocado) and vegetable (cucumber), don’t you get to choose which you like best/reason you’re eating it?
July 13, 2014 2:54 am at 2:54 am #1094968squeakParticipantBread has five – hamotzi and four brachos in benching.
July 13, 2014 3:29 am at 3:29 am #1094969popa_bar_abbaParticipantI’ve eaten cholent that has at least 10.
Mezonos before.
Al hamichya after.
And about 8 more after. v’hamaskil yavin.
July 13, 2014 4:43 am at 4:43 am #1094970ari-freeParticipantbread doesn’t have the option of 5 brochos bdieved before eating it!
rice isn’t BROWS so you don’t make al hamichya but you make mezonos!
July 13, 2014 9:18 am at 9:18 am #1094971IvduEsHashemBsimchaParticipantPBA:
In that case, wouldn’t you only make one Bracha after?
July 14, 2014 4:38 am at 4:38 am #1094972Gryffindorable GirlMember@ari-free I meant you don’t have to make a mezonot on the sushi. You could theoretically make a ha’adama on the cucumber (if that’s what you think the ikar is) and have it include the rice.
If you were eating plain rice, then of course it’s mezonot.
July 14, 2014 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #1094973tzaddiqMemberwheat.
-hamotzi
-mezonos
-shehakol
-ho’adamah
-kiddush (on challah)
just a guess
July 14, 2014 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm #1094974frum33MemberI got it: Kiddush wine on the first or second night of Sukkos.
1. Hagafen
2. Mikadesh Yisroel V’hazmanim
3. Shehechiyanu
4. Layshev Basukkah
5. Hatov V’hamaitiv
all lichatchillah
July 15, 2014 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #1094975☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think some posters may have misunderstood the question.
As I understood it, the question was which food has a potential of five brachos *rishonos* which would allow it to be eaten.
The answers referring to kiddush, various birchas hamitzvos, shehechiyanu, brachos acharonos, asher yatzar, etc. are interesting, but not what the OP was asking.
