Jewish political candidates and voters are thrilled by a decision to move a Metro runoff election so it won’t conflict with Rosh Hashana. The Davidson County Election Commission voted unanimously Monday to move the runoff to Tuesday, Sept. 11. The commission reversed an earlier vote to hold the election Sept. 13, which is Rosh Hashana.

It’s also wonderful that the people in Nashville considered it important enough to bring up the issue to the Commision in the first place. They may not keep all/any of the mitzvohs, but this day always was and always will be a holy day for even the less knowledgable Jew.
Something similar happened in New York in 2001. The terrorist attacks occurred on September 11, which was primary election day. The usual day for elections is Tuesday, but Tuesday, September 18 was the first day of Rosh HaShanah. The election was moved instead to Thursday, September 20.
I guess they dont know what an ABSENTEE BALLOT is. No reason to change the date ‘cept that most jews there vote lib and the libs want to nebach win.
