Crown Heights, Brooklyn – Police arrested a Black Teen Sunday morning after a confrontation with a number of yeshiva Bochurim in front of Oholei Torah. The incident began at around 11:00am after a Shomrim volunteer spotted the suspect trying to steal a bike from his property.
The incident escalated when the teen went berserk and attacked the Shomrim member, and attempted to flee. A number of additional volunteers responded and stopped the teen on Eastern Parkway and New York, where the scene escalated further when many black bystanders joined in defense of the teen and caused an even bigger scene.
Police were called but failed to respond in time and Shomrim were forced to let the suspect go, in the interest of protecting their own safety.
Two hours later the suspect returned to Oholei Torah and attempted to resume the confrontation which began earlier, this time police responded and with Shomrim’s help they reviewed supporting surveillance footage the suspect was arrested and charged with trespassing.
While in police custody the suspect admitted that he had intentions of stealing a bike, but claimed that he was beaten. Police dismissed those claims and booked him on the trespassing charges alone.
