I came across this website that sends free email reminders on erev yom tov so that people don’t forget to make an eiruv tavshilin – http://www.eiruvtavshilin.com
September 1, 2013 4:23 am at 4:23 am #1147722🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantMusser zogger – this was written just for me, no???? You better sign me up.
September 1, 2013 4:24 am at 4:24 am #1147723WIYMemberWow. People think of everything. Who reminds him to send out the emails?
September 1, 2013 4:39 am at 4:39 am #1147724sharpMemberThey’re probably sent out automatically. They set it up when they remember and it gets sent out when necessary.
September 1, 2013 6:22 pm at 6:22 pm #1147725147ParticipantI cannot fathom what is so hard about remembering to make an Eiruv Tavshilin?
Just as I remember to eat my breakfast, or turn on the air conditioning, or to go to Shul or to lite my Chanukiyoh or to count the Omer or go to work, so likewise I take an Eiruv Tavshilin into stride and remember to make Eiruv Tavshilin.
September 1, 2013 9:15 pm at 9:15 pm #1147726Rav TuvParticipantJust put a reminder on/by the lechter.
September 2, 2013 12:00 am at 12:00 am #1147727🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantmusser zoger – Hey, that just might work. I’ll give it a try.
The hubby even lays it out for me but I walk in so late and am so frantic to get stuff done it’s not so hard to forget. 🙁
September 2, 2013 3:06 am at 3:06 am #1147728Rav TuvParticipantI always thought the man of the household does ET. I make the ET after my wife prepares it.
September 2, 2013 3:45 am at 3:45 am #1147729YW Moderator-42ModeratorPeople in today’s world are so distracted by everything around them (such as the CR) that they can no longer remember to do basic mitzvos. if there’s one thing we can work on this Yomim Noraim season, it is Focus.
I heard an interesting pshat in eishes yifas to’ar, that it seems a strange thing for Hashem to just randomly matir something just because it is a hard nisayon. The answer is that during a war, the avoda of the people fighting is to concentrate completely on the war which means that you can’t focus properly on overcoming the yetzer hara. But, in most other non-war circumstances, we are required to constantly focus on beating the yetzer hara.

Nice pshat 🙂
September 2, 2013 4:18 am at 4:18 am #1147731Rav TuvParticipantYes focus is important. Being OCD doesn’t hurt.
September 2, 2013 5:46 am at 5:46 am #1147732🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantNot that I am feeling a need to be on the defensive or anything – but I WAS focused. I get home at 4 and am so totally focused on getting ready for Yom Tov that I didn’t think about Shabbos at that time. I wasn’t posting or twiddling my thumbs, I was catching up.
Of course now that I have experienced all this constructive humiliation I assume I will never forget again.
Sheesh
September 2, 2013 3:39 pm at 3:39 pm #1147733ubiquitinParticipantThat’s funny 147 I for one cant fathom how anyone can compare an eruv tavshilin which occurs at most a few times a year to eating a daily breakfast
September 2, 2013 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #1147734🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantThank you ubiquitin.
September 3, 2013 3:27 am at 3:27 am #1147735YW Moderator-42ModeratorTrue. Eiruv tavshilin is probably on of the hardest things to remember because of all the other yom tov preparation going on and because it is not part of the usual yom tov preparations that we go through several times per year it can be easily overlooked. In today’s day where many people have smartphones to receive real-time email notification, this is a very useful service.
September 3, 2013 3:43 am at 3:43 am #1147736WIYMember42
I agree. I have a reminder app on my phone so that’s my go to thing for anything I need to remember like to put on my pants before leaving the house in the morning…
September 3, 2013 3:51 am at 3:51 am #1147737🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI’ve been validated! Thank you for scooping me out of the gutter.
I have to laugh about the smartphone thing because I don’t have a phone so the email will be coming to me at work. There is a good chance I may not even remember I got it by the time I get home but I think forgetting isn’t in the cards anymore. I am more likely to forget to bring the new fruit in from the car.
September 9, 2013 1:54 am at 1:54 am #1147738YW Moderator-42ModeratorThis email was very helpful. 2 more 3-day Yom Tovs to go this year and then another 3 next Tishrei…
September 17, 2013 12:43 am at 12:43 am #1147739HockandahalfMemberThose reminders on erev rosh hashana were so helpful. I hope they send them on erev sukkos too!
September 19, 2014 6:36 pm at 6:36 pm #1147740YW Moderator-42ModeratorI got an email yesterday from them that they will be sending reminders again this year. Good stuff
September 20, 2014 8:54 pm at 8:54 pm #1147741takahmamashParticipantAs someone in shule said to me, “I don’t have a problem remembering to make an eiruv tavshilin. I have a problem remembering to eat the eiruv tavshilin!”
September 21, 2014 7:11 am at 7:11 am #1147742☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNot so terrible if you don’t eat it.

April 8, 2015 5:24 am at 5:24 am #1147746YW Moderator-42Moderatorbump. I got another email saying I will be getting a reminder again.
April 8, 2015 8:36 pm at 8:36 pm #1147747barlevParticipantThey send email to Israel at 5 pm, that’s a bit late…..
April 8, 2015 8:55 pm at 8:55 pm #1147748WiseyParticipantCarry an egg in your pocket all day or keep a squawking chicken in your kitchen. Should be a good reminder.
April 18, 2016 8:36 pm at 8:36 pm #1147749YW Moderator-42ModeratorTry to say “squawking chicken in kitchen” ten times fast
