    Only in 2013…

When you ask a bunch of twelve year olds if it’s possible to steal without physically taking something does someone answer, “Yeah, my identity”

I’m pretty sure that it’ll be just as applicable in 2014, 2015…

Only in 2013 for most of us, will we be observing all the Chaggim & Taaniyos from Adar thru marCheshvon so early, as they have never come out so early since 1899, and won’t come out so early again until 2089.

I’m pretty sure that it’ll be just as applicable in 2014, 2015… This definitely shall not be applicable neither during 2014 nor 2015, when the calendar shall be much later than this year 2013.

This is not only in 2013 but haveyou noticed that since the year 2000 the “every 19 years your hebrew and english birhtday is supposed to fall on the same day” doesnt happen anymore? It falls out a day apart. Anyone know why?

Not true about Hebrew and civil dates matching every 19 years. Assuming hebcal.com is correct, my 19th, 38th and 57th birthdays are off by a day. I’m on the mark with 76th, off by two days for my 95th, and back on the mark for my 114th. My 19th and 38th were before 2000.

    miritchka,

It was never exact so it was always possible to have been a day off. That being said the calendar isnt perfect since even tekufas Rav Ada (which is used to sync 12 lunar mnths with approximatly with a solar calendar 365 days 5 hours 55 minutes and change) is still slightly longer than the actual solar year of 365 days 5 hours 46 minutes and change. Thus over time the Jewish months are inching slightly forward relative to the Solar months/seasons.

With enough time Pesach will no longer be in chodesh haaviv and will be in the summer then fall then winter no doubt we will once again be mekadersh with reiah upon moshiach’s arrival long before this becomes a problem

Nothing changed in the year 2000 in this regard

If you would look on a good calendar, at what time the Molad was 19 years apart, it would be a much closer match.

Despite the timing of the Molad, the actual day of Rosh haShono is frequently pushed off by 1-2 days, to prevent Yom Kippur falling out on a Friday or Sunday, as well as to prevent Hoshana Rabba falling out on a Shabbos, so if we didn’t have these 4 Dechiyos {which Hillel in 4118 was authorized by Toroh law to institute to push off the actual day of Rosh haShono}, then the 19 year cycle would be much closer every 19 years.
