There is an ad on the front page of YWN. It looks like a news story, but it’s a paid ad for Kupat Ha’Ir. The ad says this:
How can they make a claim like this? They are guaranteeing results! R’ Matisyahu Salomon got up in BMG a few years ago and blasted Kupat Ha’Ir for doing this. He said, “I have girls who call me, telling me they need a shidduch. Kupat Ha’Ir guaranteed that if they give a donation, they would get married quickly. They donated their life savings, and now, 2 years later, they’re still single – and now, they have no money either!” He said it was 100% wrong for Kupat Ha’Ir to guarantee results, yet they still do it.
This ad should either be taken down, or at least modified so it doesn’t guarantee results.

As long as the print and electronic media sources are willing to take their money for the ads, and for as long as people respond to their ads by sending donations, they will not change their tune.
April 15, 2013 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm #946043pou_bearMemberI presume there is some rabbinical supervision behind this organization…I hope.
April 15, 2013 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #946044dafyomi2711Memberkupat hair should know that better results come about if you just simply daven to hashem with kavana!
April 15, 2013 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm #946045WIYMemberYes and its about time they stopped photoshopping in pictures of Rav Chaim Kannievsky Shlita. He probably never even heard of the organization.
April 15, 2013 8:38 pm at 8:38 pm #946046🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantNote- I didn’t see the ad in question. According to the wording of the advertisement, they may be guaranteeing that the Rabbi’s tefilah will bring results… to them. You’re paying for the tefilah, bringing results to poor people in Bnei Brak.

My wife lost her job a while ago, and hasn’t had any luck finding a new one. I think I’m going to donate to them, asking for my wife to find a new job. We’ll see if it works!
April 17, 2013 2:13 pm at 2:13 pm #946051DaMosheParticipantOk, maybe not – they want $180 per person to do that! I don’t have $180 to spare, I just got the tuition bill for next year!
They have 2 things you can submit for – one says 40 days in Meron, which is $180. The other says 40 days in Meron until Lag Ba’Omer, which is $40. The link on the front page goes to the 40 days until Lag Ba’Omer, but that just doesn’t make sense.
April 17, 2013 2:19 pm at 2:19 pm #946052🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantMake sure to let us know… I know donating money l’illui nishmas R’ Meir Baal Hanes always helps find lost items. That isn’t specific to who you donate it to. Maybe it helps for finding jobs too… never tried it.
April 17, 2013 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm #946053xx ImpersonatorMemberI’m looking to hire ladies, just recently fired. (hold it, did you donate yet?)
April 17, 2013 3:24 pm at 3:24 pm #946054WolfishMusingsParticipant“No” is an answer too.
In other words, they’re promising an answer (which they can’t) with the fallback position of “it was answered — no” which you (and they) have no way of knowing whether it is true or not.

We don’t understand how Hashem works in this world. Saying otherwise is chutzpah. No one can be sure that their tefillos will or should be answered, even if they are said by tzaddikim. The best segulos are sincerity and tears.
