Does anyone still do it?
I stopped years ago. I felt ridiculous doing it. All the girls I asked hurried to say how it’s fine and they don’t need it but maybe they were to embarrassed to speak their mind. So girls here’s your chance to tell the guys what you think of the practice.
Again I think it’s ridiculous but I’m not married. Maybe that’s why
April 14, 2013 6:02 am at 6:02 am #945565VogueMemberI would love it if the guy opened the car door for me. Its like a chauffeur!
April 14, 2013 6:31 am at 6:31 am #945566luv2BjewishMemberit is the accepted thing to do nowadays.
April 14, 2013 10:05 am at 10:05 am #945567ImaofthreeParticipantMy husband still opens doors for me. It’s a very gentleman thing to do.
April 14, 2013 12:50 pm at 12:50 pm #945568The Kanoi Next DoorMemberSeriously, are we gonna go through this again? Well, then we may as well get it over with.
All those who open the door for their dates are immoral, prust, and slave to gentile mentality. All those who don’t are backwards, rude, smelly, and not suitable for marriage.
Now, let everybody elaborate on that theme for three pages, a week and a half, or the closing of the topic; whichever comes first.

I guess you’re in favor of b’shos.

Daas Yochid are you saying that if u were a female ( im assuming ur male) and the boy didnt open the door then you would call off the shidduch?
April 14, 2013 2:29 pm at 2:29 pm #945571☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNSH, I didn’t express any opinion on the matter.
You are taking my words entirely out of context.

April 15, 2013 2:47 am at 2:47 am #945573Rabbi PerfectMemberI do it but only because I was told to lol
April 15, 2013 5:27 am at 5:27 am #945574superstarMemberIf i tried opening the door and so did someone else it would be woops not shomer negiah. So i think it’s unecesary. But if you want to i guess you could. Maybe we should create a car where the doors open automatically. Oh wait we have that.
April 15, 2013 11:12 am at 11:12 am #945575TheGoqParticipantI pity the Dor that doesnt have the manners to open the door.
April 15, 2013 3:47 pm at 3:47 pm #945576pou_bearMemberThe worst is when the door is opened for the girl the first three dates and after that all “manners” dwindle down.
April 15, 2013 5:03 pm at 5:03 pm #9455772good2btrueParticipantThe guy should open the door on the first date and then on the second date as their walking towards the car the girl should tell the guy he doesn’t have to anymore. Then you know he has good manners and nobody feels like the fool.
April 15, 2013 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm #945578crndyMemberI often open the door for him. It doesn’t always have to be the other way. Manners is a two-way street.
April 15, 2013 9:20 pm at 9:20 pm #945579Torah613TorahParticipantEveryone does it on a first date. After that practicality slowly starts to take over.
