Now that I’ve lived in both places let’s compare the benefits of each.
Lakewood-Plenty parking and no meters
Brooklyn-24hr Kosher stores

April 12, 2013 10:25 pm at 10:25 pm #945104yitayningwutParticipantWhat 24 hour kosher stores are there in Brooklyn? BTW in Lakewood, CVS and Walgreens are open 24 hours a day. There are also at least three restaurants/takeouts there that are open till 2 am.
Rent is much cheaper in Lakewood. But if you don’t want the expense of a car, Brooklyn is more practical.
April 12, 2013 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm #945105Rabbi PerfectMemberLakewood- less having to deal with goyim on a daily basis, life is generally set up for the Jews and bnei Torah.
Brooklyn- don’t necessarily need a car to go everywhere, Landau’s, Shomer Shabbos, and if you’re Sephardi, Bnei Yosef
April 12, 2013 10:31 pm at 10:31 pm #945106ShalomToYouMemberyitay- Goldbergs 18/51. Grocery store on 13/45. And in general stores are open later in Brooklyn. Most groceries 11pm in BP at least.
Which takeouts in Lkwd open till 2am? Pitta’le closes before 1am
Paylesher- In the Lakewood phonebook everyone’s a Rabbi

I can’t confirm this for sure, but IIRC Glatt Bite and Delux are. And I know the Mexican place in Todd Plaza is; Kosher Taco.

Almost any Frum community is better than these two places. (:0
April 14, 2013 5:32 am at 5:32 am #945110ShalomToYouMemberLakewood is much more suburban lots of grass and trees. But it’s still a ‘third world country’ in some respects. They need to install some traffic lights for starters.
April 14, 2013 2:35 pm at 2:35 pm #945111147ParticipantEmpire or Garden?
If you enjoy a Garden:- Lakewood is in the Garden State.
If you enjoy an Empire:- Brooklyn is in the Empire State.

April 14, 2013 2:44 pm at 2:44 pm #945113writersoulParticipantThe fact that NJ is called the Garden State has always been a crack-up to me.
It’s actually because when it was under the British that’s where all the fancy people had estates with gardens, but I feel like the most populous state per square mile has abandoned its green and spacious heritage :).

Some/lots of neighborhoods do.
April 14, 2013 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #945115mewhoParticipantthe trick is not to compare and belittle another neighborhood. if you prefer one over the other and can afford to make the move then go ahead.
but dont put down one just because u feel urs is better.
respect!
