Ok this is not a pleasant topic but I need some advice. Unfortunately I had horrible cramps and diarrhea the whole Yomtov so far. So first of all I would like to know if Matza can cause this. More importantly what do you do on Pesach if you spoil your stomach? Any helpful advice is welcomed.

He used to say over in the name of the kotzker what is the bracha on pesach that we make with the most simcha and kavanna.

WIY Not?

Immodium. I went looking in a few pharmacies in Bricktown for it Erev Yom Tom and not one had it. They had the Immodium Multi-Symptom pills, but I figured they weren’t touched because the “book” only lists Immodium AD.

It might be a wheat issue
March 28, 2013 12:45 pm at 12:45 pm #942077SaysMeMemberyes. With prunes, bananas, and grapes

I had both and I am afraid the wholewheat could be worse because it probably is much harder to digest.

You sure about prunes and grapes? Bananas I heard should help Ill try and get some.

I think prunes help with constipation so that would be bad to take with a diarrhea.
March 28, 2013 6:37 pm at 6:37 pm #942081zahavasdadParticipantTry the Spelt then, Its much easier to digest
March 28, 2013 7:37 pm at 7:37 pm #9420822scentsParticipantBH this year was very good, I ate only the minimum matzah required.
March 28, 2013 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #942083SaysMeMemberwiy- yes, prunes and grapes do help constipation, as does whole wheat. there is soluble and insoluble fiber, but you don’t want to only take one alone either. other sources of soluble fiber (for loose stomach) are apples, oranges, pears, cucumber, celery.
March 29, 2013 1:22 am at 1:22 am #942084VogueMemberMy stomach cramps actually went away this pesach, apparently I am allergic to kitniot, like sunflower seeds and popcorn…
March 29, 2013 6:10 am at 6:10 am #942085yankdownunderMemberThis works for me very well. Every time you eat one whole Machine or Hand Matzah drink at least eight to sixteen ounces of plain(hopefully filtered)drinking water. The other thing that works for me is to add the juice from a lemon wedge to tepid(not hot or cold) water. Hydrating with water will help move the food gently through the digestive tract. Only add lemon juice(from the wedge)during Chol Ha Moed. Lemon Juice added to water is even better, because Lemon Juice will make the body more Alkaline and less Acidic. Eating fruits, vegetables and nuts are good for the fiber content. Always drink only lots of clean water, this will help move the food through the entire digestive tract, and hopefully prevent a sour stomach. If possible limit fizzy sodas to a minimal. WIY feel better-this is to your health. Have a great Pesach.
March 29, 2013 6:43 am at 6:43 am #942086yankdownunderMemberMore ideas-Peppermint or Spearmint Tea, Green Tea, Fennel Tea.. All the teas need to be certified Kosher for Pesach obviously. Whole Ginger, or Cinnamon Squills both using a grater are also good for digestion.
March 29, 2013 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #942087MorahRachMemberYes yes yes. It can make your stomach very upset. I know last year that I had early contractions ( was 8 months pregnant) because it “stuffed up” my stomach so much I almost had to go to the hospital on yuntif. I drank a lot of grape juice, this helps you rid your body of the waste but to me it seems like you are having trouble keeping it in! Drink a LOT of water this definitely will help, and drink it in between servings of matzah.

March 31, 2013 1:01 am at 1:01 am #942091mewhoParticipantsome people get a loose stomach and some people get constipated. i think its very important to try and eat a lot of the same foods that you eat all year long, such as fruits and veggies…this should help to keep things going well inside. also , make sure to drink lots of water. that helps flush the system too.
March 31, 2013 10:28 pm at 10:28 pm #942092VogueMemberOr in my case, chocolate and other unhealthy foods because I am allergic to most healthy food.
